Innercity Muslim American
Movement and Associates
A Journey of Faith, Knowledge, Growth and Development
What We Do
IMAMAA builds relationships, educates, assists and serves American Muslims to empower the individual, family and community.
We are a faith-based non-profit organization with four core values (IMAMAA PILLARS), the foundation of IMAMAA.
-
Establish relationships based upon shared values and respect for the role of faith as a foundational component within individual and family empowerment, sustainability and community development.
-
Educate, inform and facilitate exposure to career technical education and encourage Black youth, adults and other inner-city residents and stakeholders to pursue career technical education training as a path to living wage employment and business ownership.
-
Assist the returning Muslim citizens and those seeking available tangible and intangible resources, with reentry transition support and community connection.
-
Build an association of faith-based service providers, professionals, business owners, employers and organizations to create resource safety nets for returning citizens and their families that are navigating the difficult waters of post-prison transition into the inner city.
-
Facilitate forums, workshops and lectures to encourage youth activism and standing for justice and the dismantling of systemic racism and mass incarceration. Using the Holy Quran and the historical example of Prophet Muhammad
-
Serve as point of intersection for the many unaffiliated Muslims whose journey in life have taken them away from Islamic community life and practices. Those who are seeking to reconnect with and are striving to find the peace promised through adherence to the spiritual, moral and social tenants of Al Islam.
